Dr. Dan Mones

Dr. Dan Mones was born in Maryland and raised on the Eastern Shore.  He attended Haverford College outside Philadelphia where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  Working for a veterinarian in Ardmore, Pennsylvania inspired him to earn his VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  He lived in Philadelphia for five years before moving to New York City.  There he had the opportunity to contribute to a book-in-progress addressing senior pet care.  He has been interviewed by a number of independent journalists with questions largely focusing on exotic animal health.  After practicing in Manhattan for a year, the mountains beckoned him to the West.

Dr. Mones' professional interests include radiology, small animal medicine and surgery, and dentistry.  He has completed training in minimally invasive surgical techniques, making Longs Peak Animal Hospital one of the only general practices in Colorado that is able to offer a laparoscopic spay and other minimally invasive procedures.  Dr. Mones also has a keen interest in reptile and small mammal medicine and surgery.

When he's not in the hospital he spends most of his time outdoors biking, hiking, fishing and scuba diving.  He currently lives in Longmont with his wife, Amanda, their dogs, Oscar and Broccoli, and their Gecko, Banana.
